About Myogen

Building the prosthetic that low-resource communities actually need.

Founded in 2026, Myogen is an early-stage startup from the University of Waterloo. We design affordable, repairable upper limb prosthetics — built alongside the communities who need them, not for them.

Daniel Xie & Jacob Pfohl

Daniel and Jacob are Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering students at the University of Waterloo. They started Myogen after realizing the engineering problem wasn't the hard part — the access problem was. Daniel leads hardware and clinical outreach. Jacob brings the fabrication depth that turns ideas into things you can hold.
